July in Whistler brings endless sunny days, a number of exciting events and a huge range of activities to choose from. Those into the arts can choose to perfect their artistic skills at one of the Art Workshops on the Lake or take a leisurely stroll around the Village and enjoy the 6th Annual ArtWalk. Children are in for a treat when the Whistler Children's Art Festival returns to Whistler Creekside and foodies are in for a dining delight when Outstanding in the Field takes place in Pemberton. Meanwhile adventure seekers and active types can take part in the 2nd Annual Dragon Boat Festival or the B.C. Mountain Bike Race. And of course don't forget the endless list of activities available all summer long such as biking, hiking, golfing, rafting, horseback riding or zip trekking - just to name a few!
ArtWalk
July 1 - August 31, 2009
ArtWalk is a two-month free walking tour throughout Whistler Village showcasing the artistic talents of 72 regional artists and artisans in 40 host galleries. ArtWalk features the work of regional artists in Whistler cafés, retail outlets, commercial galleries, hotels and restaurants. Artists from Lions Bay to Lillooet showcase works of painting, photography, multi-media, pottery and jewellery. Participating venues will host opening receptions on Friday, July 3 and Friday, July 31 featuring live music, live art, walking art creations and dance. This year for the first time visitors can take part in a free tour of ArtWalk venues, tours run every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m. Another new addition to ArtWalk this year is the Function Block pARTy, held at Whistler's Function Junction on July 17 and August 21. Lunafliks

Every Wednesday during July and August, Lunafliks presents Whistler's feisty summer outdoor film series. Listen to DJ tunes under the stars, and take in short films by local filmmakers and feature films shown on an oversized screen with a killer sound system. Bring your own seating and warm layers. Whistler Art Workshops on the Lake

The Whistler Art Workshops on the Lake continue throughout July, featuring two to four day workshops from introductory to advanced level instruction in oil, acrylic and watercolour painting, as well as life drawing and sketching. The program is inspired by the beautiful mountain environment of Whistler and Alta Lake Station House, the rustic heritage home located on the picturesque waterfront area of Alta Lake. This magical, fun-filled weekend at Whistler's Creekside features workshops, music, acrobatics, theatre, dance and fun aimed at encouraging children to embrace their imagination. This year the entertainment includes Charlotte Diamond, Will Stroet, Art Napoleon, Inner Ring Circus, Cheondoong Korean Drummers, The Bhangra Footedge Dancers and more. Entertainers will play on the main stage set against the beautiful backdrop of Whistler Mountain, with free activities and zany characters filling the valley. B.C. Cup Mountain Bike Race

Several races take place during the day including a race for licensed riders looking to capture the BAR (Best All Round) B.C. Valley of Dreams Walking Tours

Join a local guide as they recount the stories of Whistler's dreamseekers during a leisurely stroll through Whistler Village. Jam-packed with little known tidbits of history, this tour takes both locals and visitors on a journey that reveals the secrets behind Whistler's rise to the mecca of outdoor recreation. Tours leave from the Visitor Information Centre daily at 1:00 p.m. Tours last for one hour and admission is by donation.
